Words on the Wind

Early Morning Rain

I could smell it in the air yesterday, that pure, cooling scent – rain. It came in the night. I could hear the tell-tale pitter patter on my window as I closed my book and gave into sleep. My dog woke me up early today, and there it was. The rain had come and gone, leaving that quiet in the air. It was the most beautiful morning of spring that I have seen this year.

My Favorite Movie for a Rainy Day

Those cool rainy evenings, what better way to pass them by than to curl up on the couch, and watch one of your favorite movies – with a cup of warm tea of course.

My favorite movie to watch while I relax and enjoy the rain, is Ever After .   Ever After is one of my favorite movies of all time.   The classic Cinderella story with a marvelous twist of its own is just wonderful.   The setting and story are absolutely perfect for a rainy day ending in a rainbow.

Try it sometime, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

One Word: Exhilarate

Do you run?  If so, have you ever went for a run in the pouring rain with friends laughing beside you?   That was the highlight of my day.   The rain plus the run equaled exhilaration and enjoyment.

By the time we all got back indoors, we were soaked through and just the happiest people in the world, having splashed in the biggest puddles we could find the whole way back.

The run was amazing and the rain was refreshing.  I feel exhilarated, and now that I am cold and soaked through, I am enjoying a bowl of ice cream!

Through My Window

It is a rainy day.   The glass pane of the window is covered with little iridescent drops, mirroring what colors they can find.   The bright warm blue of the sky is hidden behind a mass of grey clouds.   The clouds appear as one, so big it covers everything is a single stretch, like a thick quilt laid over the world.   Out my window,  the willow blows, waving to me with every branch.   The sunflowers bend down with the weight of the rain fresh upon their leaves, protected by a stone wall so the wind is unable to shake the dew free of their petals.

The world outside my window seems quiet and asleep.   There is not a sound as all the creatures of the air and ground hide from the chilling drizzle the clouds let fall.

“Rain drops on the window pane…”

This sight outside my window reminds me of many days spent curled up, warm in my home, with a book and my puppy beside me and hot chocolate on the table next to me.

For some reason, I take pleasure in the grey sky and cool rain.   Not forever, but it is a nice peace occasionally.
